5 Most Important Tips for ordering Personalized Pencils

The Five Most Important Personalized Pencils Ordering Tips you need to know

Don't get stressed out just because you are ordering custom printed pencils.  The minimum order is just one dozen pencils which is not a huge financial investment.  You won't be mortgaging your house to purchase a dozen personalized pencils.  Relax, have fun.

Start with the basics.  What color pencil is wanted?  What are the user's favorite colors?

  • The answer to these questions will lead you to a pencil category because not all pencil colors are available in all shapes and sizes.  Fpr example, if you, like me, prefer red hexagonal pencils, then you have two choices and they are both available from either the Easy Order link or the Hexagonal Personalized pencil link (typical sized print) at the top of each page.
  • Do you want a plain font or one with great personality?  Say you want one with personality, then what is the personality who will be using the pencils?   Everyone is different.  I love the Freehand Script and Cloister Script fonts. They scream out I was Not purchased at a big box store!  I am unique!  I am special!  I am loved!  What I am writing is important because the print on my pencil is so beautiful!
  • Maybe that is too much personality and screaming for you and you want plain, quiet print.  Arial is really plain.  I prefer the typical sized Spartan Medium in all CAPITAL letters to Arial.  It's a personal preference. There is no right or wrong.  Round pencils only have ARIAL CAPITAL letters available. The choices come into play with the Hexagonal pencils.

1. Select a font with personality so that your order screams I'm Special!

2. Select strong contrast between print and pencil color so text is easy to read

  • Strong contrast makes reading the text easy. Red pencils with white print. Natural Lacquered pencils with navy print.  Yellow pencils with black print.  Turquoise pencils with dark purple print.
  • Weak contrast makes you roll the pencil so light strikes the print oh, just so, to be able to read the text.  It's so subtle you might miss the text if you didn't know it was there.  Pastel pink pencils with lavender print. Gold print on gold pencils. Navy pencils with black print.  Royal Blue pencils with black print. Burgundy pencils with black print.   When customers insist, we'll print it so long as we can see what is being printed even if it is a struggle. Sometimes there really is a reason to order weak contrast.  But in many instances, it is just a really bad idea since you are paying for custom printed pencils so it makes sense to be able to see the custom printing.

3. Less text is more.... be concise in whatever you are having printed

  • There is a finite number of letters that will fit on a pencil.  Keep text reasonably short.
    • Return this pencil to the desk of Jeremy P in room 212 vs.
    • This pencil belongs to Jeremy Peters
    • Please return to Jeremy P
    • Jeremy Peters

4. Don't be afraid to try new fonts or unusual color combinations

  • I don't know why, but over the years it has become clear that boys like the Broadway font in Hexagonal Pencils with typical sized print.
  • Some girls love pink. Some girls love purple. Girls that love pink often don't love purple. Girls that love purple often don't love pink.  Pink and green is a great alternate color combination.   Purple and light blue is a great alternate color combination.  Brown and light blue is another great color combination not often ordered.

5. Proof read the submitted text for misspellings

  • When names are misspelled, we won't know it.  Taylor rather than Tyler.  Jeff rather than Geoff.  Sara rather than Sarah.  You've got to determine the correct spelling before placing the order, and then type it into the store order form correctly.   Look over the text spellings a couple times before you click on submit.
  • If a mistake is submitted, quickly, and I really, really mean quickly because your order might go to print within minutes of submission, send an email to eypencils@gmail.com alerting us to the fact that you caught a misspelled word.  Use the same email address and Billing Name that appear on the Order.  Tell us the Order Number. Make it easy for us to stop the order from being printed with the submission error so you don't end up paying for pencils with misspelled words.

Don't fret or have an anxiety attack over placing a custom printed order.  Start with one dozen. Build up your confidence over a few small orders and soon you'll be an expert orderer and joining the ranks of the witty people who give their friends personalized pencils with endearing, funny messages.  What a fantastic, lasting way to say to someone I really care about you and I think about you often.
